I wrote about the classic movie just a couple of days before it was announced that Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer..such a tragic diagnosis.

One can only remember the influence, passion, and love that Edgar Baitzel brought to opera companies throughout Germany and here in Los Angeles, whose life was lost too soon a year ago this week to cancer. I was not fortunate enough to get to know Edgar before he passed away, but I can tell you from only speaking to his colleagues about his life here, that he will forever be missed...
